Sakata Seed India Makes Historic Impact at MFOI National Awards 2025–26, Marking the Rise of India’s Broccoli Revolution
Sakata Seed India created a landmark presence at the Millionaire Farmer of India (MFOI) Awards 2025–26, held at IARI Pusa and jointly organized by Krishi Jagran and ICAR in New Delhi. Recognized as the “Oscar Awards of Indian Agriculture,” the three-day event brought together farmers, scientists, policymakers, and global experts, celebrating a defining shift toward high-value and nutrition-focused agriculture in India. A historic highlight of the event was the national recognition of broccoli farmers for the first time in the country, marking a major milestone in India’s evolving vegetable farming landscape.
Four progressive farmers from diverse agroclimatic regions were honoured for their outstanding performance with broccoli cultivation, showcasing the crop’s adaptability from Himalayan cold zones to humid eastern regions and heat-prone western states. Their achievements not only demonstrated the strength of advanced genetics but also inspired a growing movement among farmers to explore broccoli as a profitable and future-ready crop. This recognition strongly reflected Sakata Seed India’s commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality solutions that empower farmers across India.
A key highlight of Sakata’s participation was the presentation of a fresh broccoli bouquet to the dignitaries on stage, which received wide appreciation and enhanced visibility for broccoli as an emerging superfood crop. The company was also honoured with the Sponsorship Trophy, further reinforcing its contribution to seed innovation, agricultural research, and farmer development.
Technical sessions during the event highlighted broccoli’s nutritional benefits, including its richness in vitamins, antioxidants, and its role in supporting a healthier lifestyle, while also emphasizing strong market potential and improved returns for farmers. The Sakata booth attracted significant attention with live demonstrations of vegetables and flowers such as broccoli, sunflower, lisianthus, marigold, kale, pansy, and petunia. International floriculture expert Ms. Dilyana Blagova also visited the booth, appreciating the quality and presentation, especially praising lisianthus for its beauty, colour diversity, and long vase life.
As MFOI 2025–26 concluded, the recognition of broccoli cultivation emerged as a defining moment for Indian agriculture. With rising awareness, expanding markets, and increasing farmer adoption, broccoli is fast becoming a symbol of nutrition-driven farming in India. For Sakata Seed India, this milestone reflects its continued commitment to innovation, farmer empowerment, and sustainable agricultural transformation, a movement many are now calling India’s “Broccoli Revolution.”
